Sheffield’s suburbs form a fascinating and important part of the unique landscape of the city, some of them dating back to the Domesday book of 1086. In the latest edition of his Ancient Suburbs series, local historian David Templeman explores, amongst others, Abbeydale, Gleadless and Nether Edge as well as the lesser known areas of Bridgehouses, Cherry Tree and Crabtree.
