Sheffield is famous for making a wide range of metal products. Hundreds of companies competed and collaborated to produce items of quality that were exported all over the world. In this illustrated talk, Nick Duggan celebrates a hugely important aspect of Sheffield’s manufacturing history and provides a guide to cutlery and flatware. From Victorian cutlery for pickles, asparagus, sardines and sugar to mystery items that no-one can identify, Nick will showcase Sheffield’s cutlery industry.

Nick Duggan was a teacher and lecturer in Sheffield before joining The Hawley Collection as Kelham Island as a volunteer. An enthusiast for items made in Sheffield, he has worked on projects Name on a Knife Blade and Sheffield Treasures.
